Decorating for Christmas

On the 8th we decorated the house for Christmas…. I love putting up all nativity sets.  I have 10 sets depicting my Savior’s birth.  By far they are my favorite decoration.  Nanny bought each of the kids a new ornament – their first initial that looks like a decorated cookie.  They are very cute!  She gave me a vintage ornament that has the nativity scene on it.  We had our special dinner of Potato soup and finger foods (meat, cheese, crackers, garlic bagels, dried apple chips and candied oranges).  then we put all our ornament on the tree and put up the cross and manger.  I love how festive the house looks!

Christmas Light Hunting

We went to look at Christmas Lights and piled in the back of the pickup with Hot Chocolate and drove around a neighborhood that always has tons of lights.  The kids called it Christmas Light Hunting.  We sang Christmas carols while we ohhh, la la’d over the lights :)

Advent Chain

I think I did this layout 3 times… each time I got it all laid out and put papers on it, I didn’t like it…. so new layout started.  This isn’t the most elaborate layout, but it is simple and I am happy with it :)

Advent – Day 1 – Waiting

It is hard to wait for anything… and in our society it is even harder… so many inventions and things we take for granted are simply because we didn’t want to wait… microwaves, cell phones, email, fax machines, google, etc.  And for kids (and even adults) it is hard to wait for Christmas.  I for one, think it can’t get here fast enough.  I have my Christmas present sitting in my room and I can’t play it until Christmas!  So to help us wait… we made a paper chain and put up the advent calendar.
